Summary/Abstract: There have been numerous attempts to create a destination branding strategy for Romania. This article emphasizes the importance of booklets and documentary films as tools to promote the country's image and identity inside and outside the borders. Based on previous research in the field of destination branding, the current study focuses on the content analysis of two booklets that promote Romania's tourism for national and international publics. Furthermore, the article tries to capture the essence of the Romanian travel documentary films in the Communist period, considering that in the 1950s-1960s there used to be a lot of authentic audio-visual material that depicted the culture and the unique landscapes of the country.
