Summary/Abstract: The article looks at the issues related to forestry in the context of climate policy, as the use of forest areas results in emissions or removals of greenhouse gases. First, the authors introduce the legal framework for the regulation of the forest land use as a tool of climate policy. Special attention is given to LULUCF (Land Use, Land Use Change and Forestry) and REDD+ (Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation) initiatives. Next, the EU’s approach to this problem is discussed. The final section relates to initiatives and actions taken in Poland.
