Biological diversity in rural areas in Poland.

Summary/Abstract: The article reviews the most important issues regarding environmental protection of Polish rural areas. The first section covers the main features of the agricultural ecosystems and the threats posed to them by farming and other environmentally determined activities. Next, the measures currently taken in order to preserve biological diversity and challenges which need to be tackled by agricultural sector in Poland are discussed.
