Summary/Abstract: In mid 19th century, several years after the 1848 revolutionary movements had undertaken to ground the Danubian Principalities on liberal values and only three years prior to their Unification, a child was born in Bucharest to an illustrious family of the local Jewish community: Moses Gaster. He was the first son of Abraham Emanuel Gaster, secretary with the Dutch legation at the time, later on consul2 of the Netherlands in Bucharest, and grandson of the prosperous merchant Asriel Gaster, a native of Bukovine.
