Summary/Abstract: Up till now there are not many studies on contemporary sermons approached in literary aspects (of form, or artistry). These sermons have rather been elaborated in a perspective of raised problems (of theological, social, etc., content), or in a linguistic perspective. There is a shortage of some broader philological analyses. In Poland the pulpit application of belle-lettres is still insufficiently examined. To realize a topic determined with its title, I enter in domains of literature theory, linguistics, but also theology, philosophy of religion, and psychology of creativity. There, I examine how much the contemporary sermons as such (as a determined form of utterance) have any value of literary work. I am interested in sermons in a context of linguistic system, genre, literary communication, audience, literary culture, and in a broader cultural context.
