ECONOMIC SITUATION F THE WESTERN REGION

Summary/Abstract: The issue of regional development is nowadays an important objective of European Union’s activity and Romanian’s activity, as the inequities among the development levels of the regions determine conflicts that cannot be neglected. Founded in order to attenuate certain malfunctions or to prevent the issuing of others, through supporting areas in difficulty, regional policy is compared with a “social assistance” policy that strives to provide, within all regions, appropriate living standards. Under such circumstances we support the need of knowing the main tendencies regarding regional development, this paper being such an approach.
