Summary/Abstract: The present paper provides a brief evaluation of the security dynamics in relation with the Eastern Neighbourhood, emphasising the important role of Eastern Europe for the regional stability. The future East-West relations are under a deep transformation having in mind the prospect of a new generation of association agreements but also the opposition of Russia toward the expansion of EU’s influence in the “shared neighbourhood”. This brief analysis provides the framework for understanding the convergence and divergence of different approaches upon the security and foreign policies, suggesting several points of reflection that might shape the security dynamics of the New Eastern Europe and the possible approaches for the EU in order to strengthen regional stability as a precondition of development.
