Summary/Abstract: The article essentially looks at two issues, namely the analysis of angelological interpretation made by Karl Barth in his monumental thirteen-volume opus magnum Church Dogmatics and comparing his views with Catholic doctrine of the Church’s Magisterium. The purpose of this piece is to defend the thesis that the study of angels – but only of those who have not fallen – outlined by this controversial, yet influential Protestant theologian, does not have to stand in contradiction to elusive and vague statements with regard to angelic beings, the statements considered dogmatic by the Roman Catholic Church.Historical development of angelology, based on retrospective interpretations made by K. Barth, is presented in the first part of the article. Barth’s concept of the Kingdom of Heaven and angels is discussed in its central part, while Catholic angelic dogmas are addressed in the last part hereof.
