Summary/Abstract: The paper aims to show that in etymology – unlike in some other linguistic disciplines – contamination is not a marginal question at all. Contamination is used where other etymological methods fail as they are not able to explain the origin of words. The article presents the examples of possible contaminations from both the recent time and the Slavonic and Indo-European ancient times.
