Summary/Abstract: The book before the reader requires that at least one thing be made clear in advance. This relates to the difference between how Western Europe has constituted the relationship between philosophy and science and that contained within perennial [eternal] philosophy. The modern approach to science stresses the determining role of empirical and rational criteria, while perennial philosophy tends to consider such an understanding of scientific truth reductive and restricted to the givenness of the quantifiable. In this latter case, science is effectively equated with its positivist variant, and everything beyond is considered to lie in the realm of perennial philosophy and subject to its judgment.
