Summary/Abstract: In the field of international relations, the nature of relationship between international political structures has been extensively analyzed. A great portion of the studies on this matter aims to explain the structure of international politics and the effect of human nature on it. The realists define international politics as the struggle for power and interest. They also describe international system as an anarchical structure, which differs from internal political system in terms of lack of enforcement. On the other hand, the idealists emphasize that human nature is originally good and that education and the creation of a better social environment may improve human nature. International organizations are the kind of institutions that improve international environment by promoting the rules of conduct between nations. In the aftermath of World War I, which ended European supremacy, the League of Nations was established, by benefitting from historical legacy, as the first model of international association. Established in conformity with the idealist perspective, this organization failed in confronting the complicated problems of the inter-war period, exacarbated by different approaches of the major world powers. Its successor, the United Nations, was mainly created during World War II. It served as an arena of power struggle as well as the platform of dialogue between the two enemy camps.
