Summary/Abstract: We want to outline here the object and some objectives of a CNCSIS (2006 / 2007) investigation that is being developped in the Romance Language Department from The Faculty of Letters, History and Theology from the University of West from Timisoara, that deals with the importance of translations into Romanian (in the XVIII-XIX centuries) from French, Italian and Spanish, and with the development of the Romanian Language and Culture and with the Romanian relationships with the Western Romance. The centre of this line of study consists, mainly, of a particular analysis of the impact of various tranlations on the formation and shaping of the Romanian culture. There are three perspectives according to which we approach the wide spectrum of manifestations of the translation: theoretical, descriptive and applied. We’ll continue with presenting the most significant data of the project.
