Summary/Abstract: The review examines the monograph "Jānis Osis 1926-1991" by art historian Ilze Konstante. Osis is known as a representative of painterly realism and a devotee of fishermen's life, partly recognised by the Soviet regime but also demonstrating strong inclinations of a romantic-type, bohemian artist.
