Summary/Abstract: The study aims at a presentation of the geopolitical evolution of the region of Kosovo, with the implications generated by it in time at regional and international levels, taking into account the multiple problems generated by the inter-ethnic tensions in the area. These tensions manifested themselves gradually, with a reduced intensity since the creation of the Kingdom of Serbians, Croatians and Slovenes in 1918 (Yugoslavia in 1929), but in time they turned the Balkan area in a “barrel of gunpowder of Europe”, whose explosion took the form of the conflicts manifested on the territory of Yugoslavia and among which we could include the Kosovo conflict of 1999.
