The First All-Russian Women’s Congress: Discussion about Equality

Summary/Abstract: The article analyzes basic lines in discussion which was held during the First All-Russian women’s congress. The discussion was devoted to the nature of power, the character of social relationships between men and women. The question — how to include the prob-lems of women’s rights into the common context of social transformations in Russia — was also discussed. «The Proceedings of the First Women’s Congress» were used as the basic source of information. It is the most profound and representative document concerning the history and theory of Russian feminism of pre-revolutionary epoch.
