Summary/Abstract: From the author’s account on the text of the Constitution of the Sacred Liturgy from the Second Vatican Council and the process of adopting it, shows that from the very beginning it has faced various difficulties. The views of the supporters and opponents clashed on the liturgical reform. The major controversial issues were: the possibility of using different languages, receiving communion in two ways, con-celebration, music and singing in the liturgy. These differences were visible both during the work of the Commission as well as during the discussion on the council meeting. The prominent and well respected figure in the counciliar and post-counciliar liturgical reform was Archbishop Annibale Bugini CM (1912–1982) and has described it extensively. The author of this article also gave the view of other prominent liturgists at those times, especially Joseph A. Jungmn SJ, Salvatore Marsili OSB, Aime- Georges Martimort, Cipriano Vagaggini OSB, Joannes Wagner. The major opponents were: Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre and Cardinals Alfredo Ottaviani and Antonio Bacci.
