Open source software in archives - experiences of the Archives of Tuzla Canton in 2015.

Summary/Abstract: Open source software is of great importance to the archival institutions of smaller human and financial resources. It allows them to track the movement and more or less keep pace with the times and the institutions that solution to the problem found in commercial software. This paper presents only a small part of the available open source solutions that are already in use, and there are many others that could significantly influence the work of archival institutions, or are already doing so. There are also smaller software packages and programs not directly related to the archival profession, then operating systems and others. The key in the implementation of this software will be the ease of use, both for the archivist, as well as for users. Due to staffing limitations and structure, it is necessary that all the software in the archive is easy to use, without special technical knowledge, in order to accelerate its effective implementation.
