Summary/Abstract: Samedin Kadić’s text Towards Political Critique of Culture was inspired by public debates entitled «Towards a Political Criticism of Culture in BiH: Re-considering the Given Frameworks of Possibilities», held at the beginning of this year in Sarajevo in the organisation of Action Sarajevo – Agency for Cultural Development in cooperation with the Media Center, and «The End of Literary Critique or How a Genre has Passed Away». The possibilities of criticism today were discussed in the context of the current political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina in which culture is reduced by trivial agon of three ethno-national groups that are physically enclosed into their own critical refuges, where one’s own culture is treated as the exclusive space for entire cultural experience. The consequences of this aprioristic collective homogeneity prevent the culture form affirming itself as the place in which diversity can be experienced. In the context of literary criticism, the author also tackles the issues, such as: what happens when a literary text, interpreted by these singularised national hermeneutics, becomes the absolute text? Do we always need a bloody conflict in order to transform our particularistic understanding and viewpoint into the pluralistic one? What are these «absolute texts» or codes in our culture and how to deconstruct the regime that persistently rehabilitates them?
