Regional economy in the contextof sustainable transport measurement

Summary/Abstract: It is quite a challenge nowadays to take the decisions about the investments regarding environmental-friendly, socially important and economically effective transport systems development. The paper investigates the sustainable transport issue with a special attention to its measurement possibilities in Poland at the regional level. The regional transport system sustainability level may be analyzed by the indicators representing three dimensions: environmental, social and economic ones. The existing statistical data are not sufficiently accessible to support and make the decisions about the transport investments objective. Actually, the biggest challenge has been to collect data about the scale of transport investments at the regional level. The research has been carried out throughout the literature sources and own research experience.
