Sustainable transport development in the EU with a special emphasis on the financial aspects

Summary/Abstract: The paper, based on the European official strategies and documents, presents the impact of the sustainable development concept on the transport sector development in the EU, underlying contradictions, barriers and suggesting actions to be taken in order to ensure better efficiency in the future. Special attention has been drawn to the transport infrastructure financing methods in selected European countries.
