Transformation of Departments and Services at Higher Education Institutions’ Libraries: Online Referral Service Development

Summary/Abstract: In the process of Bologna Declaration implementation, especially the part related to the insurance of quality for the purpose of developing comparative criteria and methodologies in higher education, libraries of higher education institutions have been registered as partners. Certain consolidation and development transformations of the library sector are needed so that the libraries of Sarajevo Universities could significantly contribute the improvement of quality in the process of implementation of reforms. That will enable the increase of information propulsiveness. This article presents the possible directions of restructuring services of the higher education institutions’ libraries, so that the collecting, analysis and the use of information resources is made as efficient as possible. One of the solutions proposed is the increase and development of the referral sector via the development of on-line referral services which should become a part of the standard library services in the network environment.
