Summary/Abstract: The Author reconstructs the astonishing story of the life and works of Bojan Danovski, from his University studies in Milan, where he came into contact with Filippo Tommaso Marinetti, up to the years spent as a clerk in Rome. The article deals with Danovski’s literary contacts with Geo Milev, his broadly symbolist works, the acquaintance of Brecht and the great Russian theatre directors such as Meyerchol’d, his mission to Leipzig with Georgi Dimitrov’s mother and sister, his clandestine activity between Italy and Albania in the Macedonian revolutionary organization VMRO, until the assassination of Protogerov by Vanče Mihajlov bands. In his extraordinary career as director and teacher in the most important Bulgarian theatres, there are also two stagings of Eduardo De Filippo’s comedies: Le bugie con le gambe lunghe and Questi fantasmi.
