Summary/Abstract: The Historical archive in Sarajevo possesses 658 archive funds and collections. Most of the funds, precisely 287 funds, have been stored in the archive depot ‘Vrbanjuša’. The building where the ‘Vrbanjuša’ depot is located was built in 1912 and was totally inadequate to be used as archive depot. The building was allocated to be used by the archive in 1990, and it has been under reconstruction since 2005. The aim of the reconstruction is to adapt the building to be used as an archive depot in an adequate manner. Up to date 21 rooms have been fully reconstructed and adapted. Purchase and installation of the modern archiving equipment have been done in parallel with the reconstruction, so 8 out of 21 rooms have been equipped with the mobile archiving cabinets, i.e. as many rooms as the condition of the building itself permits. In this way the material of 8284 m has been ensured for proper archiving.I can freely state that the ‘Vrbanjuša’ depot of the Historical archive in Sarajevo is currently the best equipped archiving depot in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
