Summary/Abstract: This is a commentary on the issue of specific characteristics of the art academies – to what extent have they been recognized in the Sarajevo Canton Law on Higher Education, in the light of a public discussion on the law, at which the Art Group outlined several proposals. Highlighting the key issues that should be resolved via general University acts, especially in the process of election of the associates, as well as some issues related to the specific rules of studying, standards and normative that characterize the art academies’ curriculum, position of the Art Group Counsel during the process of deciding on some important issues (personnel, study issues, standards and normative, financing criteria, possible solutions and solutions that cannot be implemented because of some acts of the Law; the issues that have to be or should be resolved by the Law, general University acts and mutual agreement on cooperation between the academies – cooperation in the curricula development process and mutual thematic permeation in certain subjects (joint subjects and students’ mobility in choosing the elective subjects); possibility of joint realization of programs at the second cycle (interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approach), joint agreement on requirements for promotion to a higher academic degree, development of the third cycle curriculum in the field of art…
