SWOT analysis as an instrument of strategic controlling – a case study of an international construction company

Summary/Abstract: This paper presents SWOT analysis as one of the instruments for strategic controlling in an international construction company. The approach suggested herein can be employed for the analyses of other types of companies, regardless of their sector of operation. The case study method was used to provide a more detailed insight into the character of tasks involved in this type of analysis. Over the last decade, the XYZ, a company operating in the construction sector, has expanded from a local enterprise into an international conglomerate of world-wide renown, while keeping the pace of development by extending its range of services. The analysis was based on literature studies as well as interviews with Polish representatives of XYZ and key contractors.
