Summary/Abstract: This paper aimed to identify a side of the archival activity often neglected in professional literature: the way an archival institution manage its own records and, most precisely, those records directly related with the administration of its holdings. Most IT solutions today, designed as support for archival activities, are more Archival Information Systems, implementing (mostly) professional standards for archival description, or Archival Management Softwares, monitoring a larger range of archival activities. There are although rare cases when a reliable and professional module of records management is available. With its rigorous registration/capture system, classification, access control, with its retention policies, such an application would be, in our opinion, at the utmost relevance for a proper archival management.
