PROMOTING CONTEMPORARY TERRORISM THROUGH THE MEANS OF SOCIAL MEDIA

Summary/Abstract: Today we live in an interconnected society. Social networks that are currently in full virtual expansion are representing the result of an increasingly usage of the revolutionary technologies that have led to a significant change of society, on how we perceive the events that are taking place in society and the way we interact with each other. In addition to these changes, the evolution of social media has led and offered new possibilities of expression through various ways for the contemporary terrorism. For terrorist groups, these social networks represents true virtual platform for communication, having a wide range of utility regarding dissemination of certain messages which aim to propaganda or to the recruitment for new followers.
