Summary/Abstract: Franchising became one of the most popular forms of enterprise development. A dynamic globalization process requests international presence of enterprises and this form of development turns out to be a concept which allows to reach a competitive advantage on a local and global market. At the same time the concept of franchising evolved in the course of time. The aim of this study is to present, based on an available literature and market data, the current franchising development trends in Poland and Europe. The study also aims to contribute to scholarly efforts being undertaken to analize the phenomenon of franchising and its transformation.
