Summary/Abstract: Phenomenon of clouds has a great potential, not only in creating andchanging weather conditions. Clouds take different shapes and variousforms, which suggest that they are similar to something, resemble something.I assume this way of subjective identification has always existed, since a man started looking at the puffs. I decided to find out differentways the clouds functioned in the past eras, what they meant, how theywere depicted, what they were compared to and how they were changed.I put myself to the task to define what the clouds are in an aestheticexperience. I am trying to create an objective picture of clouds containingthe biggest number of prospective approaches, opening for the new, unknownexperience of clouds. As far as I am concerned, aesthetics of thesublime will be essential to describe this experience. The following textis an introduction to searching for the meanings which clouds create inliterature and painting.
