Summary/Abstract: The authors of the paper compare seven copies of the apocryphal story of Father Agapius. The oldest copy is preserved in the Old Russian Uspenski sbornik from the 12th–13th c., published in 1971. The other copies are South Slavic and date from the 15th–18th с. The observations regarding certain languistic features of the copies lead to the conclusion that there existed two early versions of the text. The oldest representative of the first one is found in the Uspenski sbornik and the oldest representative of the second one in Pl. 105 from the 15th с. The article includes the text of “The Story of Father Agapius” as preserved in Pl. 105.
