Monetary policy of Polish National Bank in the years 2008-2014

Summary/Abstract: This article presents the monetary policy pursued by the Polish National Bank from 2008 until 2014. The analysis was made the division into two periods. The first (2008 - 2009), in which the central bank's main goal was to maintain stability and liquidity of the financial market and the second (period 2010-2014), in which the monetary authorities focused on achieving the inflation target. Assessment of monetary policy in the first period pointed to its effectiveness. In the second of the analyzed periods established objective has not been achieved. Against the background of the ongoing discussion in the literature on the effectiveness of the strategy adopted by Poland's monetary policy seems reasonable request to the need to make the critical verification.
