Time in the pictute of the world of children

Summary/Abstract: This paper, which is based on material from the Bulgarian language, analyses only some of the characteristics and patterns of general specificity and the specific patterns of acquisition of lexical devices for the conceptualization of time. An attempt has been made to present its specific parameters on the basis of empirical data acquired from the spontaneous speech of 5 Bulgarian children as well as on the basis of a psycholinguistic experiment (with the participation of 90 children aged 3 to 5). In order to achieve a higher degree of psychological adequacy and reliability of the results, an analysis on the free word associations produced by 100 six-year-olds of the words sutrin (‘morning’) and nosht (‘night’) has been added.
