Summary/Abstract: This article presents the variations of travel in the Novels of Patrick Deville, published by Seuil since Pura Vida: life and death of William Walker in 2004. It explains scriptural practice of this writer-traveler (always under influences of Rimbaud, Loti,Conrad or Malraux) who declares that he travels to write and not write for traveling. Then, he draws the inner workings of its Works, haunted by the memory of explorers (Brazza, Pavie, Livingstone or Stanley); finally, it shows the absolute commitment required by this project which reveals the novelist at the height of his literary maturity.
