Summary/Abstract: The evolution of CEE party systems is recently one of the most prominent directions of research in political science. After time of relative stability, in the beginning of 21st century CEE party systems distinguish the secondary instability. This process is connected with frequent emergence of new parties which attain the relevant position on political scene. The change of party system’s configuration can be determined by three kind of factors: political, structural or sociocultural. Presented article is aimed at answering the question whether and how ethnic, linguistic and religious fragmentation has influence on parliamentary fates of genuinely new parties in CEE. The analysis includes 11 countries in this area: Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia.
