On a Foreword to the Psalter

Summary/Abstract: The article is devoted to one of the most frequently encountered forewords to the Psalter which constitutes a prayer sequence, preceding the reading of the kathismata. It usually consists of three antiphons in voice six and a prayer, preceded by instructions for the reading of particular prayer texts. On the basis of comparing 20 copies of the sequence in handwritten psalters of the 13th–18th с. period is followed up the variation in its composition and the differences between individual component texts.
