Summary/Abstract: The study inquires into the usage of stylistic figure “hendiadys” in the Church Slavonic translation of Forty Gospel Homilies by Gregory the Great. The author compares this translation with the Latin original and analyses – from the formal and semantic points of view – the reasons for translating Latin words by the means of hendiadys.
