Summary/Abstract: The introduction of the idea of green economy and green development into the mainstream of the EU policy lies at the core of the development of the European Union between 2010-2020. The EU strategy document “Europe 2020” is the lead document in the context of green economy. The developmental priorities aim at the expansion of green economy, the renewable sources of energy and the investments in the sectors of economy that use environment-friendly technologies and eco-innovation. The aim of the study is to discuss the problems of eco-clusters in Poland against the legal background for such initiatives. Particular attention has been paid to the special role of eco-clusters in the implementation of advanced, innovative technologies that foster environmental protection. It has been pointed out that eco-clusters may promote the co-operation that is necessary to reach the aims of the EU’s policy in order to “make economy green”.
