Summary/Abstract: Globalization is one of the most salient themes of the social sciences debates. Economics, sociology, political sciences, are all involved in the study of this phenomenon. The analysis of this process is very difficult due to its complexity and the ideological implication. The paper presents globalization both in a broad and a narrow sense. The mechanism of globalization, based on an institutional and evolutionary approach, is offered. The papers describe the concepts of path dependence, globalization, social and human capital, social norms, cultural norms, institutions and mental models. The process of globalization can be understood as diffusion of mental models in a population pool. The gene like metaphor of mental models is employed and the final destination of this process is described.
