Summary/Abstract: Insurance of the employees at work is usually known as group insurance, which is contracted by the employer with the insurance company of his choice. In this paper, the basic concepts and aspects of this kind of insurance shall be pointed out, as well as to the fact that this insurance is a necessity and not just an obligation of the employer. The purpose of this insurance is to transfer the risk of the insured case and the compensation of damages from the employer to the insurance company which collects the necessary funds for such purposes through the premiums. Through the insurance of his employees, the employer avoids additional financial strain caused by the compensation of the damages of the employee. By the Law of safety and health at work, the obligation of the employer to insure his employees against the work related injuries, professional illnesses and work related illnesses is regulated for the purpose of compensation of damages. However, the Law does not standardize any consequences for the employers who ignore the above mentioned obligation. Systematic legislative standardization of this kind of insurance and then its application by all the relevant factors in the relation would mean investing and preservation of the human capital, and investing in human potential always pays off in the end.
