Summary/Abstract: The article is dedicated to the Christmas canon of Constantine of Preslav recently discovered by G. Popov (see Palaeobulgarica, 21, 1997, No. 4). A study is made of the relationship between the troparia in the Christmas canon of John Damascene which was used by the Old Bulgarian writer, and the corresponding troparia in the original canon of Constantin of Preslav, using two hitherto unstudied copies of the canon of the 14th с. (in the collection of A. Khludov in the State History Museum in Moscow – Nos 164 and 166). The article offers reasons also for a new reading of the end of the acrostic: егоже род[и напъп]ο плоти стая instead егоже род истая оплот[а наша].
