Role of local government in financial support for cultural policy in Poland

Summary/Abstract: This article looks at the changes in cultural policy in Poland between 1990 and 2015. The authors discuss the competences of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage and local governments in various cultural areas, the accessibility of the EU funds and its impact on the cultural sector, as well as budgetary plans of local government units and expenditure on culture. The analysis is based on data from the Central Statistical Office of Poland and from the Ministry of Finance.
