Summary/Abstract: Paper analyses the historic tales incorporated by Ivan Aralica into the novel Put bez sna. In the beginning of the paper the tales are defined as short works of prose within the system of oral literature. The paper deems important the relationship between literature and reality and also the way that Aralica presented the actual events in his novel. The novel’s plot is situated in period after the Ottoman defeat at Vienna in 1683. After the Ottoman defeat, situation deteriorated for the Christians in Bosnia. Therefore, some individuals like Šimun Grabovac were forced to escape Bosnia. The only way out of the permanent insecurity for Christians was to migrate to safer areas under the Venetian rule. Thus, in 1687 a migration of people from Rama and surrounding areas in Bosnia novel happened and that migration is the theme of Aralica’s novel. The people were led by the Rama Franciscan friars under the leadership of Fr. Pavao Vučković. Military units from Dalmatia under the command of heroes like Stojan Janković who died during the campaign in Bosnia provided support during the migration. The support was also provided by the Republic of Venice which had an interest in populating the desolated Dalmatian hinterland.
