Summary/Abstract: In today's socio-economic important factor in urban development are endogenousfactors (local) understood as local resources and potential of the systems of socio--territorial regional and local level. Article focuses on showing the role (meaning) thatendogenous factors, particularly social factors play in the development of the city on theexample of two selected entities: Uniejow located in the Łódź region and Dąbie on the Nerlocated in the Wielkopolska Region. Their choosing decided on the one hand the similarityin terms of natural conditions (geothermal water deposits) and historical, on the other handa significant difference in the current level of socio-economic development.
