Summary/Abstract: Data published by Central Statistical Office show that the economic situation of Polish families with dependent children has not changed significantly during the decade of membership of our country in the EU. It means that having children remains one of key factors which deteriorate economic condition of families. The purpose of this article is to present an in-depth analysis of a material situation of families. This analysis is done on the basis of data collected within the Social Diagnosis study in the period 2005-2015. We assess the level of families’ income, the dynamics of its changes, as well as we compare the relative income situation of families differing with respect to a demographic structure. The analysis confirms that the most vulnerable are large families (with 3 and more children) and lone parents. We try to show key determinants of this situation.
