Summary/Abstract: This article is concerned with intertextual relations amongst Hrabal’s novel Ostře sledované vlaky (Closely Watched Trains, 1965), the screenplay made from it, and the version for the stage. Intertextual analysis is applied to a stage production of Closely Watched Trains, which was directed by Peter Gábor at the Slovenské komorné divadlo (Slovak Chamber Theatre), Martin, in 2003. The article also offers interpretation based on the intertextual approach to the stage play, and provides examples of typical intertextual relations.
