Change in the Position of the Inflective Verb in the Bulgarian Sentence in a Diachronic Respect

Summary/Abstract: The changes in the word order in the history of the Bulgarian language are followed up on the basis of material from Gospel texts from the Old Bulgarian and Middle Bulgarian periods in comparison with the Greek originals. It has been established that the archaic verbum-nomen word order model continued to be partially ysed and was partially replaced by the new nomen-verbum model. The changes were effected irrespective of the Greek model. This state has been retained also in the contemporary Bulgarian language. The verbum-nomen model is encountered mainly in the epic part of the Gospel text. In it use is mostoften made of verbs which register the existence or appearance of a certain phenomenon. This model is frequent also in the colloquial language and in the folklore.
