Summary/Abstract: Abstract:“For many students leaving school is the final step of a long process of gradual disengagement and reduced participation in the formal curriculum and in the co -curriculum of the school as well as in informal social life at school“(Leitwood&Jantzi, 2000:8). Truancy has consequences in short and long term. Although the shortterm impacts are significant: suspense , repetition or dropping out of school , the long-term effects are much more important because they affect the individual in his daily life and how he is functioning in society: absenteeism involves fundamental lack of knowledge, lack of basic skills in order to develop an adequate personal, social and professional life; He may even reach up marginalization, illiteracy, unemployment, illiteracy, crime, etc. “Ethnographic researches and studies based on questionnaires show that students who leave school before graduation often cite the lack of academic and social support as a reason. They feel disconnected from teachers, despite the efforts, they say, made to get help from the school staff. Those who leave, often complain that their teachers do not care for them, are not interested in how well they do in school, and are not willing to help with problems ( ... ) according to their own stories, many dropouts have fewer positive social interactions and less access to support from teachers than their more successful peers (Croninger and Lee, 2001:551 ). The problem of absenteeism and dropout is linked to multiple factors such as: personal, social and family;b.But also too many other factors related to schools and their performance, which can increase academic problems as well as the inclusion of youth at risk. To understand this properly first of all, it must be pondered upon the concept and manifestation of absenteeism itself, analyze its causes or factors that are associated with its expression and then try to display some solutions for its prevention and solution.
