SUFERINȚĂ ȘI VINDECARE. O PERSPECTIVĂ INTERDISCIPLINARĂ
SUFFERING AND HEALING. AN INTERDISCIPLINARY PERSPECTIVE

Summary/Abstract: Suffering and Healing. An Interdisciplinary Perspective. Conformably with the Christian doctrine, the man has been created by God „in His own image” (Gn 1, 27). As a consequence of his disobedience, he has estranged from his Creator and, therefore, had entered into the world suffering, sickness and, eventually, death, as an unavoidable end of life. Refusing this imminent reality, man tries very often to overcome sorrow and everyday problems by „powerless” means of modern science and technics, but he finds out, painfully, most of the times too late, that the healing comes, actually, elsewhere, being conditioned by the help of a Higher Power who works into the world both through physician and minister. Taking into account that the present study implies an interdisciplinary research it is intended that the approach of the suggested subject to have in view, primarily, a biblical and patristic ground developed through the elaboration of a methodology based on the review and the interpretation of the data from the medicine, psychology, sociology and philosophy, all these being complemented by a missionary sight which gives to the paper a topical character, especially if we have in mind the fact that this year was proclaimed by the Holy Synod as homagial year of the Sacrament of Holy Unction and anointing of the sick.
