Summary/Abstract: The economic environment together with forecasts for the European Union present a very high grade of uncertainty regarding the potential risks that could affect the economic growth, potential risks that have been identified since the spring of 2008. Although the risks (financial crisis, inflation, the slowing process of the economic growth and the correction of the real estate market) do not materialize on the same time they become stronger almost overnight. Due to the exceptional particularities of the crisis, it was very hard to foresee all the implications and effects on political and social life, economy, military and national security characteristics. The European security is a construction based on the voluntary and responsible processes of the European states în order to defend the European countries, maintaining, restoring or preserving the peace as a whole.
