Summary/Abstract: I am specifically interested in how previous research investigated the law of punishment execution, the law’s function of preserving and respecting the autonomy of persons, the prosecution and punishment of mass crimes at international level, and the legitimacy of punishment. This paper provides implications for practice and research to further explore the harms of crime and punishment, the utility of the restorative process, the scope of criminal law, and the offender’s capacity for autonomy.
